Holiday Tree Auction Grows Support for Local Art
COLUSA, Calif. — The Colusa County Arts Council will invite residents to bid on decorated Christmas trees and wreaths during its first “O’Christmas Tree Auction” on Friday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the CCAC Gallery, 151 5th St., in Colusa.
Held during Christmas Tyme in Colusa, features four themed trees and five wreaths: Western Christmas, Traditional Christmas, Woodland Wonder and Art of Christmas. Each tree comes fully decorated, offering buyers a ready-to-place centerpiece while supporting local arts.
“The goal of the O’Christmas Tree Auction is to raise funds for the Colusa County Arts Council, allowing us to continue bringing vibrant art programs and public art projects to our community,” said Arts Council board member Milly Lee.
In 2025, the council launched the Downtown Colusa Art Walk, added three murals through the Small Walls, Big Impact project, and completed the third year of the Levitt AMP Colusa concert series, with funding secured for three more years. The council also reported record enrollment at its Summer Art Camp and capped its Performing Arts Camp with a live performance.
Lee said continued support will help the council expand programs in 2026 and develop new public art projects across the county.
Board member Sadie Boggs Ash proposed the auction after imagining a way to combine holiday tradition with local support.
“It was a dream I had, and Milly always helps to make my dreams come true,” Boggs Ash said. “The option to buy a decorated tree while supporting an organization that serves my family and friends, yes please. I really hope the response is great and this is a new tradition we can grow, and maybe one year soon we will have a forest of decorated Christmas trees for people to come and visit during the holiday season.”
The themes draw from ornaments donated by Lindia Daugherty, owner of Christmas in Maxwell. The Art of Christmas tree features ornaments made by local artists.
Organizers opened viewing and bidding online Nov. 29 at http://givebutter.com/c/ochristmastree/auction. Guests can also view the trees at the gallery leading up to the auction and place bids in person during Christmas Tyme in Colusa.
The silent auction closes at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5. Winning bidders will be contacted on Saturday, Dec. 6, to arrange pickup or delivery.
