Museum Seeks Help Identifying Historic Photos
The Sacramento Valley Museum seeks public help to identify individuals in historic, early 1900s photographs from its collection. Contact the museum at (530) 473-2978 or sacvalleymuseum@gmail.com with information.
WILLIAMS, Calif. — The Sacramento Valley Museum is asking the public to help identify several unidentified people featured in its growing collection of historic photographs.
The museum houses multiple binders filled with portraits and family photographs from the early 1900s, many without names or context. Museum curator Elijah Rodriguez said staff have brought the photos to community events and local markets to gather information, but only a few have been identified so far.
“We’ve tried asking at local events, but haven’t had much luck,” Rodriguez said. “Now we’re reaching out to the wider public.”
Two of the recently featured portraits show a young man in a suit, taken by Van Winkle Studios, and a woman posing near a window dressed in a fur-trimmed coat and hat.
Community members who may recognize the individuals or have historical knowledge about the photos are encouraged to contact the museum.
The Sacramento Valley Museum is located at 1491 E St. in Williams and is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October. Those with information can reach the museum by phone at (530) 473-2978 or email at sacvalleymuseum@gmail.com
