Williams police say a 77-year-old man, identified as Kenneth Lausten of Williams, died after a vehicle struck him at Seventh and E on Oct. 31. Officers responded at 7:12 p.m. He died at Rideout Hospital in Marysville. Police said the driver remained and cooperated. Investigation continues.

The Sacramento Valley Museum in Williams debuted a haunted house, drawing over 200 guests. High school volunteers created jump scares, and a Raggedy Ann doll resembling Annabelle sparked curiosity. The museum plans to host it again next year.

John Schempf was appointed interim city administrator for Williams, starting Sept. 16, 2025. He will serve until a permanent hire is made, earning $9,200 per pay period plus health insurance and CalPERS. Schempf brings over two decades of municipal management experience.
